Hybrid Floors

Specialising in expert timber floor installations, Grounded Flooring provides premium workmanship from dedicated professionals. With over a decade of experience in the industry, the tradespeople at Grounded Flooring are known for honest advice, outstanding customer service, and high-quality installation of hybrid floors in Sydney.

What are hybrid floors?

Hybrid floors are an innovative waterproof material combining the best qualities of vinyl planks, laminates, and solid hardwood. Hybrid flooring is created by combining four separate layers of material into synthetic floorboards that imitate the appearance of natural hardwood.

The top layer is specially treated with a protective coating to guard against scratches and stains. The second layer uses advanced printing techniques to display decoration mimicking the look of natural timber. The rigid inner core provides stability against fluctuations in temperature and movement. Finally, the acoustic bottom layer works to dampen sound and increase comfort.

Due to the waterproof nature of hybrid flooring, it’s suitable for areas with higher moisture including kitchens, bathrooms, and entryways.

Hybrid flooring is also inherently stable, minimising the risk that floorboards will expand or contract with temperature variations, making them ideal for changing Australian weather conditions.

Benefits of hybrid floors

Whether you’re remodelling, renovating, or building a new home, it’s important to choose the right type of flooring for the space. Hybrid flooring is:

  • 100% water-with proper maintenance and care.
  • Durable and scratch-proof making them ideal for high-traffic areas.
  • UV-coated to prevent fading
  • Designed not to swell or buckle.
  • Easy to maintain and clean.
  • More affordable than solid hardwood.

Supply

At Grounded Flooring, we only work with trusted brands who align with our values. Reliable and known for quality products, each supplier has been tried and tested so our customers receive timber of the highest quality. Alongside hybrid floorboards, Grounded Flooring also offers engineered timber, laminate, vinyl planks, and solid timber.

Preparing the subfloor

When it comes to flooring, the secret is through the preparation of the subfloor. This allows the timber to be laid efficiently and effectively. The experienced professionals at Grounded Flooring level the subfloor with precision and refined preinstallation techniques. Our contractors can also remove your old flooring before installing new timber floorboards.

Installation

Once the subfloor has been prepared and levelled, the timber can be laid. The Grounded Flooring team is proficient in a variety of installation methods including floating, direct stick, and nailing.

  • Floating: floating floorboards use a tongue-groove system or click and lock together over an underlay which rests on the subfloor.
  • Direct Stick: each individual floorboard is glued directly to the substrate, usually on concrete or timber subfloors. Direct stick installation may be combined with nailing for added stability.
  • Nailing: floorboards are nailed to the timber subfloor or battens. For optimum stability, floorboards are glued down before nailing.
